Meet Sheila Miyoshi Jager an alleged former girlfriend of Barack Obama (so she says), is said to have been the first lady that Barack  proposed to. But could also be considered the second because he proposed to her twice, both times being turned down before he met and married Michelle. It is also suggested that he continued to see Jager for about a year into his and Michelle’s relationship as described in the book according to information on Dailymail.com. Sheila Miyoshi Jager was almost entirely omitted from Obama’s own biography, Dreams of My Father, where she was simply combined with his other white exes into one character. But according to Rising Star, by David J. Garrow, Jager played a huge role in Obama’s formative years. So much so that even after Barack met his wife-to-be Michelle, he kept seeing Jager on and off for at least a year, the book claims. Girl Bye! Sheila, who is 53 is employed at Oberlin College in Ohio and is an associate professor and director at the school suggests: ‘I remember very clearly when this transformation happened, and I remember very specifically that by 1987, about a year into our relationship, he already had his sights on becoming president.’ In the book it is noted that Shelia is barely mentioned in his “own biography, Dreams of My Father”,  when mentioned in only one chapter of the book, she along with the other white women he dated were mentioned but considering her significance in his life, I guess she was utterly surprised. Shelia who is of Dutch and Japanese heritage, believes this is when their relationship was impacted negatively. Once he was Harvard bound their relationship had already started to crumble. But according to information on the site, Shelia felt their relationship was far greater than being combined with all the rest of his white exes into one chapter, because according to her, they were deeply in love and  in the mid 80’s,  living together in Chicago. She further implies that in the winter of  1986 while visiting her parents Barack proposed to her but because of her age, her family felt she was too young for such a commitment. At the time Shelia was 23, and Barack was 25 so she declined his proposal but continued to see him. She saw the his need  to be loved. Although she turned down his proposal according to her as mentioned in the book: But Obama was not ready to give up on Jager, and proposed to her for a second time – asking her to join him in Harvard. Again, Jager turned him down. As she put it she felt it was  ‘out of a sense of desperation over our eventual parting and not in any real faith in our future.’  Two proposal rejections was enough and according to information on Dailymail.com, that was the ending of their love affair. Michelle Obama A Sidechick? Child Please! While in law school Barrack met Michelle, where she was working and the pair was instantly attracted to one another and soon there after started to date. But Garror the author of the book, suggest that Shelia went from girlfriend to side chick when she took an internship at Harvard  and while there she continued to see Barack for about a year into his relationship with Michelle.
