Senator Joshua Dariye submits APC nomination form from prison

Senator  Joshua Dariye  who is currently serving a 14-year jail term over financial misdeeds while serving as Plateau governor, has picked his All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to contest next year’s election.  “Yes, Sen. Dariye has picked a nomination form to seek a third term. It is true. He is among those jostling for the APC ticket in Plateau Central,’’ Mr Chindo Dafat, APC Publicity Secretary in Plateau, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday in Jos.  Dafat said that Dariye has filled the form and submitted to the party. “His (Dariye)’s ward secretary came and signed the form on his behalf. It has been filled and his supporters are already campaigning ahead of the party primary election,’’ he said.  According to him,  Dariye  will battle with three others Zakari Dimka, Sam Piwuna and Manji Pompori for the APC ticket. President  Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to participate in the mega rally organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Gboyega Oyetola, its candidate in the coming Saturday’s governorship election in Osun state. The personal assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, shared the news on Twitter. “President Muhammadu Buhari is in Osogbo, the State of Osun for the mega rally to canvass support for the APC’s governorship candidate, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election,” he wrote President Buhari is also expected to meet with traditional rulers in the state ahead of the rally.

Lagos-Ibadan expressway section one hits 57% completion - Federal Ministry Of Power, Works and Housing says

The engineer supervising the project from the  ministry ,  Kayode Ibrahim , made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, September 18, in Lagos. The section one of the project was being handled by Julius Berger, which spans from  Ojota  in  Lagos  to  Sagamu  Interchange. While section two begins from the  Sagamu Interchange  to  Ibadan  and was being handled by Reynolds Construction Company Ltd (RCC).   Ibrahim, who spoke to NAN while inspecting the site, said that several kilometres of drainage channels, road works and earthworks had been completed.     He added that various works were going on simultaneously on the second section. Senate president and presidential hopeful, Bukola  Saraki , says he has the medicine that will help residents of Lagos state defeat the godfather that is terrorizing politicians in the state. Saraki, who did not mention the godfather who was referring to, said he would help the state PDP win the 2019 governorship election. Saraki said this while addressing PDP delegates. ''What you have been fighting for many years, you will have it during the coming election because you now have somebody that has intention and charisma to deal with those disturbing you. Lagos State engages 75 legal practitioners in the State public service as court registrars

The Chief Judge of  Lagos  State, Hon. Justice Opeyemi Oke has disclosed that the State Judiciary, for the first time, recently engaged 75 Legal Practitioners in the State public service as Court Registrars. Justice Oke, speaking during a workshop for the newly appointed Court Registrars at Peace Hall, Lagos Multidoor Court House Igbosere, said the present administration is working tirelessly to improve the justice delivery service by infusing into the system professionalism, relevant skills, qualification and competent individuals into the court system. She implored the newly deployed Court Registrars to be efficient in their duties, stressing that “Inefficiency on your part will constitute a serious clog in the wheels of justice; judges and magistrates cannot perform their duties of hearing and determining cases without an efficient and functional support staff base of which you are a major part. Great-granddad, 84, hailed as a local hero after fighting off three armed robbers (video)

An 84-year-old great-grandfather has been  hailed  a hero after he single-handedly fought off three thieves who tried to rob a shop in Ireland. Pensioner Denis O’Connor, was inside Bar One Racing bookmakers in Ireland, when three masked men, believed to be in their late teens or 20s, burst in wielding a gun and two hammers. One of the masked men hurled himself straight over the counter with a hammer and attacked manager Tim Murphy who was sitting behind the counter. The other one pointed a gun at Mr O’Connor, while the third ran round the side of the counter.  In the footage, obtained from CCTV cameras at 6.30pm on September 15, most of the people inside the bookies can be seen scrambling to flee, but Mr O'Connor, from Glanmire in County Cork, stood up to the men, despite having a shotgun pointed at his face. Five alleged   Boko   Haram terrorists were shot dead on Sunday after the insurgents ambushed troops of the Nigerian Army along Bama Road in Maiduguri, Borno State.  According to the army, troops were on a clearance patrol in support of military operation, Rainbow, in the area when they were ambushed. The troops neutralized the situation after a serious exchange of gunfire as several rifles and rounds of ammunition were recovered from the insurgents. Fresh report has it that a gallant officer identified as  David Babalola Egunbiyi , was killed in the ambush in Maidiguri. The 32-year-old officer is said to be the first son of the family and happily married with twins (Boys). His father, Peter Egunbiyi retired as the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) in Ondo 

Ex-Chief of admin in the Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen Idris Alkali, who went missing few weeks ago, found dead

Major General  Idris  Alkali, a former Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army, who went missing since September 4th, this year has been found dead. According to reports, the remains of Alkali was found in a pool along JUTH permanent site in Plateau state yesterday Sunday September 16th. According to media personality, Bello Lukman of Unity FM in Jos, three corpse were also found around Kwata Gyel road this morning. The corpse where that of one Aminu Adam, a milk (Fura Da Nono) seller Aishatu Musa and an unidentified bike boy.

Man "arrested" by snake after stealing a mattress (photos)

A  man  who stole a mattress in Uganda was immediately "arrested" by a snake and had to surrender himself and the stolen item. The thief stole a brand new mattress this morning in Kyenjojo district in the Western Region of Uganda. But before he could flee with the stolen item a snake attacked him and wrapped itself around his neck.  Desperate to get help, he cried out, thereby alerting people.  A native doctor has been called and efforts are being made to remove the  snake  from the man's neck.
