When DeGeneres asked her what she thought of the Tiffany and Co. box, replete with white ribbon, being handed to her by Melania on the steps of the White House in front of millions of viewers, Obama, 54, inhaled deeply, saying "Oh yeah, the box" while a tape of the tense scene played out behind them for the Ellen Show's audience. DeGeneres made the point that President Trump did not wait for his wife or escort her up the White House steps, appearing instead to walk briskly to meet the Obamas. Several seconds pass before Melania Trump is able to join him, appearing from behind their car with the Tiffany box. The incredible journey of recovery for the father who saved his family from their burning home

Etienne Basenge suffered second- and third-degree burns during an explosion at his Dartmouth, N.S., home. (Submitted by Etienne Basenge) Two months after Etienne Basenge raced up two flights of stairs in a burning Dartmouth, N.S., townhouse to save his young family, walking with a cane is exhausting.  Major burns to his legs, feet, hands, arms and face have left him covered in painful scars. They're lasting reminders of how on the night of Dec. 8 he turned on the furnace and accidentally ignited fumes from a gasoline can, setting off a fiery explosion. "I heard something like — pooh! I was like unconscious, like 10 seconds. Then I run up here," Basenge, 31, said this week as he stood in the bedroom of an identical townhouse where the family's been staying, just doors down from the scene of the fire. He remembers the window in his son's second-storey bedroom was blown out. He tossed out a small mattress, then pushed his middle child, Ro...

MPs vote to leave Parliament during six-year refurbishment The move for MPs and peers will not happen before 2025 and MPs are likely to relocate to a temporary Commons chamber in Whitehall. , Image: The building will be left empty for at least six years for repair work After an historic Commons vote, MPs and peers are to move out of the Houses of Parliament while the crumbling building is repaired and restored at a cost of around £4bn. At the end of a three-hour debate, MPs voted by 236 to 220, a majority of just 16, to go ahead with controversial plans for a "full and timely decant" of the Palace of Westminster. But in a move urged by Theresa May to keep costs down, MPs voted by 234-185 for a motion proposing only essential work between now and the next election and a review of the cost of further work. The move out of Parliament for MPs and peers will not happen before 2025, the Government insisted, and MPs are likely to move to a ...

Man City ease past West Brom to go 15 points clear

Fernandinho scored City's opening goal Kevin De Bruyne was again the inspiration as Manchester City opened up a 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League with win over West Brom. City may have pulled out of a deadline day deal for Leicester's Riyad Mahrez but on the field it was business as usual at the Etihad Stadium. De Bruyne set up Fernandinho for City's opening goal and then added the second himself before a delightful late finish from Sergio Aguero wrapped up the win. It proved a comfortable evening for record signing Aymeric Laporte to make his debut. His appearance was a surprise, after his £57 million switch from Athletic Bilbao was confirmed only on Tuesday, but he was given a chance after John Stones fell ill. West Brom, meanwhile, blooded their high-profile January recruit Daniel Sturridge only as a late substitute and were left three points adrift at the bottom. City dominated from the outset and it was a wonder they only led 1-0 at ha...
